The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, “Come Saturday”
Welcome to one of indie rock’s most exciting young bands: The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart. Chances are you haven’t heard of this New York fuzz-pop band — and you are missing out. Comprised of four overly polite anti-rockers in their early-20s, the Pains are decidedly un-rock ‘n’ roll. There’s no rebellion, no indulgent drug use, no onstage tantrums; It’s actually all quite boring — except the music is awesome. Hearkening back to a decidedly more innocent age, the Pains play pop-rock in its best possible form: infectious, hyper-melodic and fun. From the jangly guitars to the boy-girl vocals, the band’s eponymous debut album is everything great pop music should be. Take a taste with “Come Saturday” below and tell me you don’t agree. If your foot ain’t tapping, you don’t have a pulse.
