I didn't have to read too far before I got a little wary when you mentioned your journalism "career." Clearly, using the term lightly this day in age. :) Good stuff buddy, keep it up!

Johnson: I agree that shortening the season would be better it would help reduce injuries and usually you already know who the contenders are. The only reason im not 100% sold is some records would never again be touched like the bulls 72 win season, obviously you dont play for records but teams and players want to make them. But overall I think it would be good for the league.

Ben: You really actually enjoy watching the 1, 2 and 3 seeds ALWAYS beating up on the 6, 7 and 8 seeds every 1rst round??? I mean, barring some freak injury, hence KG going down at the end of the year last season and the BULLS actually making that a series, the 4-5 matchup is the only one that ever is good first round in my opinion. Once a decade, G.S. over Dallas 00-09, Knicks in the 90's, an upset will occur... but hardly ever, and those teams don't win the title. The factor of the matter is that over half the league and losing teams make the playoffs, I hate that. Good point about the season never getting shortened though, it is just too bad.

Daniel: I think that is exactly what needs to happen, they would actually shoot better from the line. Rick Barry is one of the best ever shooting from the strike. It also was recently proven on the TV series NUMB3RS that the Rick Barry style of shooting a free throw has a better chance of going in versus a more standard free throw attempt that exists in todays game... it's just that nobody ever uses it or practices it anymore.

I concur. I also think that changing the jump ball rule would help create a sense of urgency in some games that simply isnt there. Make the players hustle for loose balls instead of standing around doing nothing.

I say if a player air-balls a free throw, they not only donate a mil but they also have to shoot granny from the line for the rest of the season, Rick Barry style. What do you say?

I agree on all these points except shortening the playoffs. I love the NBA playoffs and they never seem to dissapoint, they make for one of the most exceiting times of the year. I agree the regular season should be shortened but lets keep the playoffs at the same length. There's no way this would ever happen the players would have to take less money and the owners want the extra money from ticket sales.
